It's A Ruff Life

Thanks, Aunt Juicebox. Your poke roused me out of my mental slumber and has resulted in lighting a tiny little flame under my ass. Not a big flame yet, but maybe by sitting here and attempting to rattle the box that is my brain, I'll find that a little mental exercise will stoke the fires and get me up and at it again.

Quite frankly, I haven't felt like I've had much to say. There is a tremendous amount of riff-raff bloating my brain cells, don't get me wrong. It's just nothing I feel is useful or worthwhile or worthy of putting pen to paper as they say. So many of you are hysterical, witty, wise, kind, compassionate and downright genius that I've been feeling quite sub-par as of late. On top of that steaming pile of unworthiness, I still haven't shaken the autumn blues. I'm not quite sure it's even the blues anymore. It seems to be a mish-mash of self-loathing, a dash of depression, a big ol' heapin' helpin' of self pity and an entire truck load of dismay and disillusion at the state of our country and our world.

Ready to off yourself yet? Or maybe just push me off a bridge? Well, then. Here's a little happy for you and and attempt at reminding myself why things don't entirely suck.

I got a new puppy! She's an adorable little mutt. She's 1/3 Bichon Frise, 1/3 Yorkie and 1/3 Dachsund. Here. Look.

Doesn't she look like a little teddy bear? Her name is Ellie Mae. Remember the t.v. show, The Beverly Hillbillies? Ellie Mae was Jed's daughter and she just LOVED "critters." When I saw my little puppy for the first time I thought, "Oh my hell! What a cute critter." So, there you go. I'm working on getting her completely potty trained and she has completely and thoroughly altered my daily schedule. She also has the stinkiest farts of any animal on the planet. This fact is almost negated by the fact that she is also the sweetest, most loving little animal I've ever known. Almost.

Oh Amy, you can't worrry about the others, any body else, actually. You got to live your own brand of life, with your own songs and your own pictures. This blog is just one form of recording what you think and what you are at present, your version and for yourself.

Everybody gets heard here...that's the whole point...I think....

1/3, a 1/3 a 1/3....how do you spell "ménage à trois" ain't that French for 1/3, 1/3, 1/3?

Take that little critter out for walks in the sunshine...it will chase those blues away.

I showed Dr. M the picture of your puppy & he thought she looked three thirds silly! I hope that she will be an antidote to this cloud of blues...

I agree, either more sunshine, or lots of vitamin D. It works for me. You know, I never feel like I'm as good at blogging as everyone else, but I like the "social" interaction it creates. That helps chase the blues away too.

I can't help but compare my blog with others; in my opinion mine pales in comparison. But I convince myself that the writing is a healthy bit of creativity, even if it's boring to others...
The puppy is adorable. I remember when mine was tiny (he's 80-some pounds of love now) and I slept on the sofa at night to take him out to potty. I miss the bouncy puppy stage occasionally but I'm glad he doesn't pee on the floor! Bad news about dog farts is that they seem to worsen over time. But by then you'll love her so much it will be negligible.

No wonder you're distracted from posting! Ellie Mae is such a sweet little baby.

Well, I've missed you. I often feel that way about the blogs I follow, how clever or thoughtful they are etc. as compared to mine. especially the ones that have tons of followers and haven't been up any longer than mine. But I do enjoy my little group, appreciate their comments and try to put my 2¢ worth in on theirs.

So...more sunshine, more vitamin D and exercise! Do something physically demanding and sweat that crap out of your system.

Ellie Mae is cute. That is, you know, my nickname as bestowed by a couple of my friends.

I could just cut and paste the whole paragraph about bloated brain cells into my blog. It was funky town here awhile...and not in a good way. I can't honestly say it has totally gone away, but friends, bloggy, and otherwise have really helped. Yeah, and I probably should take Eloh's advice, too, and go walk the dog~!

Keep on posting...you are one of the few bloggers who truly seems to welcome all points of view, even when they disagree with you.

Add me to the list of people who have been in a blogging funk lately. I have been in a bleak mood for two weeks now. This happens to me every year as the seasons are changing, and I snap out of it as soon as winter finally arrives. I'm considering forming an "Autumn Sucks" club, and I think I've spotted a few potential members here on your blog.

Your new puppy is very cute.

I gave up caring about what I was sharing etc. I just do it for me, for fun and if I want to let of steam, I do.
Love your pup and what a cute name! May she bring you joy and not too many chewed slippers LOL

Your puppy is adorable. But ... how can she be 1/3 of anything??

Hope your mood soon lifts, my dear!

Hasn`t my chocolate arrived yet? To chase your moods away? I sent the envelope off about ten days ago. Ask at your post office. Maybe they have the blues there, too? (Or HAD it?) Cheers from your pal Angela

You'll be glad to know your cute dog saved us both - I was definitely about to jump off a bridge, and take you with me! =) Hope life comes back around to the good stuff again soon.
