Update

Apparently, I went about my experiment all wrong. Silly me.

After reading my blog, Mr. Right took out the bathroom trash. Oh, quit rubbing your eyes in disbelief. Yes, it did pile up to near overflowing, but he did it. He really did it!

So, look forward to future blogs about how to get Mr. Right to find the laundry room, where the switch is on the electric broom, the fine art of vacuuming and the joy of scrubbing toilets.

Yes, you can train an old dog; let us know how it works out.

I'm afraid you might be setting yourself up for some disappointment. Then again, who knows.

Ladies:I don't know if an old dog can be taught, but I do know that tattling worked this time! And, as I've said before, I always expect the worst so that I can be pleasantly surprised if the worst doesn't happen. So, if Mr. Right never takes out the trash again, I'll have this one shining moment to cling to!

I don't like to brag (& really I shouldn't be proud), but my hubby is a better housekeeper than I am. Even now he's washing the sheets AND the dishes! Of course, I'm recuperating from shoulder surgery so the dishes are an aberration...

Very interesting. I can't help but wonder if your trick would work on a teenager.

Bug: I've heard stories about husband's like yours but always filed them away in the "urban myth" category.

Jennie: The Babe needs to step it up a notch. Momma has left the building.

Inga: No. It won't work. Shame and guilt does not work on teenagers. And if you've heard differently, that too is an urban myth.

Humankind has long known the public humiliation is an effective motivator, except when dealing with teenagers, in which case it's only effective in front of other teenagers.

You have an ELECTRIC BROOM?!! What in the world is that? One that sweeps all by itself (then no husband needed)? Or a wired witch is sitting on it, directing?
Can`t believe you Americans...But I remember how I marvelled at color TV back in 1964, it all comes here eventually.

An electric broom, tz tz tz...

Wendy: Word.

Angela: Yes! An electric broom! It's a marvelous little gadget that works like a charm on tile or wood floors. Just flip the switch and the little brushes sweep up all of the crumbs and suck it up into a little canister that you can dump out later. Ta da!
